Terms of Service

1. The service

Skim It is a subscription tool that monitors YouTube channels you choose, generates AI-written summaries of new videos, and emails you a digest on the schedule you select. We may add, change, or remove features over time.

2. Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 13 years old to use Skim It. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to violate any law or infringe anyone's rights;
• Attempt to circumvent usage limits, rate limits, quotas, or access controls;
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or resell the Service or any output generated by it without our written permission;
• Use the Service to generate summaries of content you do not have the right to access;
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to it or its related systems; or
• Use the Service to transmit malware or to harass, abuse, or harm others.

4. Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation

Skim It offers a free plan and paid plans (currently Pro and Power), each with a monthly limit on the volume of video minutes summarized. Current plans, prices, and limits are shown on our pricing page.

Paid plans are billed monthly in advance via Stripe. If you exceed your plan's monthly limit, additional summaries may be queued and delivered once your limit resets or you upgrade. You may change or cancel your plan at any time through the Stripe Customer Portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and no refunds are issued for partial periods except where required by law. We may change pricing with at least 30 days' notice to existing subscribers.

5. AI-generated summaries

Summaries are produced by a large language model (Anthropic Claude) based on a video's transcript. They may contain errors, omissions, or misinterpretations, and they are provided for convenience only. Always refer to the original video for definitive information. Summaries are not professional, financial, legal, or medical advice. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any summary.

6. Third-party content and YouTube

Skim It surfaces metadata, thumbnails, and transcripts of YouTube videos that remain the property of their respective creators and rights-holders. Thumbnails are displayed directly from YouTube. Your use of that content is also governed by YouTube's Terms of Service. Skim It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by YouTube or Google.

7. Intellectual property and license

The Service, including its software, design, and branding, is owned by Parker Oak Holdings and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your personal or internal business purposes in accordance with these Terms. If you send us feedback or suggestions, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free license to use them to improve the Service.

8. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or if your use threatens the security or integrity of the Service. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends, and we may delete your account data as described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that summaries will be accurate.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Parker Oak Holdings and its affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Parker Oak Holdings and its affiliates from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in California, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced by email or in-product notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
